traveling in Northern Ireland

Is it practical to base our stay in Belfast and take day trips by public transportation ( rail or bus) to the giant's causeway, coastal road and Derry? Are there any tour companies that run day trips to these sites that we could catch in Belfast?

A quick search of the web displays a variety of companies that offer tours to the Causeway and beyond so yes I'd stay in Belfast. I'd research the tours via Tripadvisor.
