I am researching for a trip to Devon and Cornwall and would like to have recommendations for towns in which to establish a base, hotels or B&B's, and restaurants. Our criteria for hotels include cleanliness, comfort, parking, and reasonable rates (although I realize that is relative). Luxury is not necessary, but charm is a plus. I am consulting other websites as well and I always use Tripadvisor, but appreciate hearing the personal recommendations from RS travelers. Anything else you'd care to share about routes to take or places to see, etc., would be very welcome. We will be traveling from Bath, but that part of the trip is already planned. Thank you!
We stayed at Headlands Hotel near Tintagel for the eastern part of Cornwall and nearby Devon. For the western part of Cornwall we stayed at Housel Bay out on the Lizard. Both hotels are on cliff edges above the sea.......... If you don't already have it, the Rough Guide for Devon and Cornwall is worth buying. ......... Places we enjoyed visiting were Tintagel Castle, Restormel Castle, St. Ives, Zennor, Men-en-Tol, Merry Maidens Stone Circle, Mousehole, Lost Gardens of Heligan, Dozmary Pool, and poking around in the little villages near the sea........... If you scroll back to August 23, there is another post there about Devon and Cornwall.
