Traveling from London to Hickstead

We will be first time travelers to London and will be arriving on July 31 and leaving on Aug 7th. We must be in Hickstead on the evening of Aug 4 and stay through Aug 5. We would also like to include London sights and a trip to Bath. We will be leaving and arriving at Heathrow and cannot change that. Any suggestions on how to plan out time and best way to get to Hickstead? Thanks

Are you going to the Show Ground at Hickstead? If so why not e-mail them to ask which of the two nearest railway stations ie Haywards Heath or Burgess Hill would be easiest in terms of onward taxi or bus services?

Trains from Victoria Station in London go to the above stations. Journey times are about 45 to 55 minutes.

A day trip or overnight in Bath? Train journey from London to Bath is straightforward. For the best price book in advance.

Hi Gretchen, I see that Linda gave you the same information that I was going to give to you on how to get to Hickstead which is the easiest way for you to travel to Hickstead.
You can day trip to Bath..take the train from London Paddington Station it's an 1 1/2 hr trip so could leave London around 8am that would give you a whole day to sightsee.

I did this last summer, except that we stayed in Brighton, then went to Hickstead via there for the tournament.

Both ways, we did National Express coach (bus) as it was incredibly cheap. They even have a stop that is a 5-10 minute walk to Hickstead. We pre-bought our tickets, then showed them when we got on.

Train isn't convenient, as the stations are a fair distance from Hickstead. If you're willing to spend the money on cab fare, it's doable. Really, it's not set up for people on foot.

Are you going to the pony show?
