Can I use a Zone 1-6 Travelcard to get from London to Windsor Castle? I've seen information that indicates that you can, but that might be in conjunction with the London Pass - like it's a special promotion with London Pass, rather than a feature of a normal 1-6 Travelcard.
Windsor is not on the Tube service lines. You must catch a train at Paddington station. Some are direct to Windsor and sometimes you must change at Slough. Travelcards are only good on the Tube and buses in London.
You can use travelcards on trains, but only within the London area. I live in zone 5 and always have to buy a normal ticket to Windsor.
I just checked the London Pass site. It DOES say that a zone 1-6 travelcard bought in conjunction with the London Pass will cover transportation to Windsor. Since Windsor is beyond zone 6, it must be a special promotion with the pass.
For Toni: PAPER travelcards are good on all National Rail trains for travel in the zones covered by the cards. Since most National Rail stations do not have Oyster card readers, a travelcard loaded on an Oyster card is good only for a few select routes on National Rail trains.
Thanks for the great replies!
