Forgot to ask if anyone has recommendations for a b&b on these islands. I am traveling alone and just want something basic & relatively inexpensive (clean, quiet, and accessable by someone without a car-see my previous post).

If you really decide that you can't do a car, then I would advise staying in Kirkwall. I can't remember the name of the place where we stayed, but the url I gave you on the other thread also has accommodations. In fact, I think that our hostess no longer does B&B. Pam

If you are traveling by ferry and land at Stromness, you could stay at Miller's House. It's pretty inexpensive and an excellent value. In Kirwall, we stayed in Avalon House. It was great, but since it's a bit out of town (15 minute walk), it might not be the best place without a car.
