We leave in seven weeks for a 2 1/2 week trip in Ireland. We will be renting a car and both our children 6 & 9 will need car seats. We are flying via aerlingus - does anyone know if we can take their booster seats on the plane?
The best thing to do for accurate information would be to contact Aer Lingus and ask them.
Don't know about Aerlingus, but when we took another airline there last summer, we checked the booster seat. We got one of those big plastic bags at check-in and put it in there. The only thing was that at some airports we had to check it in (and pick it up) at oversized baggage, which added an extra step on both ends. But it still beats paying for renting seats.
As far as taking them on the actual plane itself, I don't think that's allowed. Booster seats don't provide any extra safety on a plane, since there's only lap belts.
There are (at least were) booster seats available that specifically say they are approved for use on an airplane or in a car. When our youngest was still using booster seats we got one for a cross-country flight. The attendants did read the tag and were fine with using it in the plane.
