What is the best way to the cotswold area without a car?
Take the train from London to Moreton-in-Marsh. There is bus service from there to other towns in the Cotswalds and to Stratford-upon-Avon.
I found this trip report very helpful with lots of detail on bus routes in the Cotswolds:
Kay,
Rick provides a good description of the tranportation options to the Cotswolds in the England Guidebook.
As the other posts indicated, rail service in that area is a bit "limited". You could also check www.nationalexpress.co.uk for information on travel by Coach.
Cheers!
In doing some earlier research on the train service, I discovered that there are going to be massive interruptions in service this summer due to wok on the tracks. If you go to www.fistgreatwestern.com
(or co.uk...I fogot which you can google them) and plug in London to Moreton-on-March and a date this summer and a message should come up.
Hi Kay, there are some villages in the Cotswolds that buses do not go to. So I would decide which ones you want to go to and make sure there is bus service to the villages. If there are some that you want to see with no bus service you could always take a cab if need be.
