Travel in Denmark

Our family is visiting Denmark in August, staying in Copenhagen most of the time. We want to go to Legoland. Three question: 1) should we drive there, since other options are train/bus and airplane which are all costly and time consuming? 2) is one afternoon and the next morning enough time at the park? 3) what are cheaper options to stay near Legoland? Thanks

I just did this in early June. My son and I were traveling together so we traveled by train/bus which was quite easy and relaxing, but as you mentioned, not cheap. If you have more than two people, perhaps a car would be less expensive, but I have heard that it's long and time consuming too, plus someone has to do the driving.

We got on a train at 7am in Copenhagen, arrived at Legoland at park opening and stayed until a few minutes before park closing and returned to Copenhagen by 9pm or so. That was plenty of time for us. If you have a child the right age, 6-12 maybe?, be sure to walk straight over and pay for a time to do the driving school. That was my son's favorite activity there and he got a license with his picture on it. Another don't miss is the fire engine competition, and be warned that it can be strenuous. We did an engine alone, just the two of us, and you really need 4 people to win, but it was fun and unlike anything I have seen at any US park.

We chose not to stay near Legoland because nothing was very appealing to us, and it seemed easier not to hassle with moving rooms. But, the bus does let out right at the Legoland hotel, so it could be done.
