we are planning on taking a NCL from Miami to London in the Spring-2009 and want to know the best way (not by air) to get from London to the Continent then eventually to Scandinavia (Sweden) - rail, motor-car, what-ever ... please help ... thanks, Doug
The Eurostar to Brussels and then connect with a train to wherever in Sweden.
Eurostar to Brussels gets you off to the fastest start. From there, take a train to Cologne where you can connect to a train to Copenhagen. Because of the distance and time from Cologne to Copenhagen (10+ hours), you may want to take the overnight train. Continue on to Sweden by rail via the new railroad bridge over to Malmo.
Hi Doug,
I don't know your stops along the way between London and Sweden, but I can tell you what I did four years ago. We took trains from London-->Paris-->Munchen-->Frankfurt-->Copenhagen. From the train station in Copenhagen, you do as mentioned above and take a train across the bridge to Malmo. I'm not sure about transportation once you get to Malmo, as my relatives picked me up in their car!
As a side note, along with recommending taking the night train to Copenhagen, I would recommend paying extra for a sleeping compartment. We took the night train from Paris to Munich and forgot to ask for the sleeping car--worst night rest-wise in Europe.
