Travel from London to Normandy

What is the best way to travel from London to Normandy? I am planning a trip for my boss and his two children. He will be flying into London Heathrow, staying for two days, and then would like to spend two Days in Normandy then on to Paris. Does anyone have suggestions as to the best/most comfortable options for travel?

I'm not sure specifically, but I know he wants to tour the D-Day sites.

We drove to dover, took the ferry, rented a car in France. It is a 5 hour drive to Bayeaux.

Your boss have deep pockets? Fly to Caen and rent a car

Mindy - What time of year is your boss planning on going. You can take the Eurostar from London to Calais for £107.00, if you book early enough.

Once in Calais you could rent a car and go to Bayeux. In Bayeux use BattleBus Tours for tours of the DDay beaches.

Then drop the car off in Bayeux and take the train to Paris. If you book your train travel early enough you can get fares as cheap as 45.00 € for 3 from Bayeux to Paris on TGV Europe

Mindy, I think you need to ask your boss a few questions about what his expectations are and what exactly he considers are " most comfortable options for travel". Neither you nor we can read his mind.

If your boss is really into the D-Day experience then I'd suggest taking the overnight ferry from Portsmouth to Caen. It leaves out at 10:45 PM and arrives at 6:45 AM. Arriving in France at daybreak would be similar to when the Allies landed there on 6/6/44. Here's the website for Brittany Ferries - http://www.brittany-ferries.co.uk/home
The cost (without a car) and including reclining seats for 1 adult & 2 children is £ 116 ($168). A really good deal for something they'd never forget.
