We will be visiting Bath in September, during the Jane Austin festival. What is best way to travel to Bath? We prefer not to rent a car to get to Bath.
From London, the fastest way is a train from Paddington Station to Bath Spa station. The cheapest way (but longer) is a coach (bus) from the Victoria Coach Station, located a short walk from the Victoria train/Tube station). I'm so happy you posted this information today. We will be visiting the UK in a few weeks. We initially planned to start our trip in Bath, as Rick recommended, but now we will just go as an excursion from London. Today I booked a Bath hotel for July 30, and the next thing I need to do is find transportation there and back. I will happily use your link!
(The lady at the hotel said she prefers making the trip by train.)
Thanks Rose. I was thinking train would be best.
If you really want the cheapest way to go you can check out the Mega Bus. It goes from Waterloo Station in London to Bath Spa. It's only £12 round trip and takes 2 1/2 hrs. http://uk.megabus.com/Default.aspx
National Express has coach tickets on offer for £5.00 each way from Victoria Coach Station (just near Victoria train/Tube station) to Bath Spa coach station, located next to the Bath Spa train station. I do believe that's the lowest-cost option. Journey time = 2 hrs 30 mins.
To complete the set, the cheapest fare from Paddington station to Bath is £9.50 and takes under an hour and a half. All these fares require advanced booking.
