We are a family group of 9 and need to get from Bath to Chipping Camden. Once in Chipping Camden we are mainly hiking locally, perhaps a side trip to Warwick Castle? Best transportation option seems to be rental cars. Are there bus/train options? Thank you.
You could take a train from Bath to Moreton-in-Marsh, then taxi to Chipping Camden. There isn't a train station in Chipping Camden. There are buses that you can use to go some villages, there aren't any buses to some of the smaller quiant villages. I feel that you would be better off if you rent a car, but with a group of 9 plus luggage you would need two cars.
Chipping Camden is one of the largest villages. There are (limited) bus services from Moreton-In-Marsh to Chipping Camden. Check Chipping Camden on Google. that is aboyt the closest you can get by train. However even that website recommends a rental car To get the best out of the Cotswolds you really need a rental car. Most of the charm is in thesmaller villages and country scenes
Thank you for your help.
I disagree...I did the Cotswolds by bus and had a marvelous time. I home based in Moreton-on-Marsh and then bought a daily bus pass and went alllll over. Would get off and just walk the back roads.
Yes, you can do the Cotswolds by bus, but...there isn't bus service to most of the smaller quiant villages....having a car is really the easiest and best way to see the Cotswolds.
yeah car rental is much easier to manage. i took a minibus tour from Bath a few years ago to see these little villages, and noticed there there is no bus or train easy access to most of them. plus train is expensive in general, so more people with car rental is economical.
