Travel from a London Airport to Newcastle Cruise dock

I need to get to the Newcastle-on-Tyne cruise dock from a London airport. (Husband's office is making flight reservations so I do not know which airport in London) Flying all the way to Newcastle seems to add more than a thousand dollars to the flight, so we will need ground transportation from London. In the best of all worlds, how many additional steps does this add to the process? WHich rail station in London? Frequency and cost of trains? This trip appeared on the family schedule this week, and my normal weeks and weeks of planning are not happening this time. Thanks for any help.

I've been on a DFDS out of newcastle - taxi is easiest from city centre, i think (rel to london they're very cheap).

Around 3 hours for the train from Kings Cross in London to Newcastle, that train alone will be around £120 per person one way. Can't advise on airport transport until we know which one. No clue about the dock in Newcastle, but it may well be Tyne and Wear Metro or a bus. Have you asked the cruise company?

I am figuring that the last step from train station in Newcastle to the dock will be by cab. Unless we go a day early and spend the time in London, we will have been in transit from Texas to EWR to London and then on by train. Thanks.
