Travel between Hampton Court Palace & Windsor

I would like to visit Hamptom Court Palace (HCP) and Windsor in the same day (Windsor first probably). I know there are several trains that serve Windsor. However, once I'm there, what's the best way to get to HCP? I'm guessing a taxi would be pretty pricey. Is there a train that serves HPC from Windsor(or is there one to Kew)? If so, any ideas on how long it might take to get there?

Thanks,
-Mark

The Transport For London Journey Planner http://www.tfl.gov.uk/ should help. I should start with Windsor High Street as your departure point and Hampton Court Palace as your destination.

As part of the journey is on the railway you will be able to use the rail tickets for a 2 for 1 ticket deal at Hampton Court. Be sure to have a completed voucher form with you. These are available on-line or in a booklet available from main railway stations, maybe smaller ones as well but I don't know.

We did this a few years ago. We took the bus from Windsor to Hampton Court. After visiting Hampton Court we got back on the bus and went onto London. This was many years ago so you would need to check bus routes/schedules to make sure this is still available and the times. Someone else probably has more up to date info.

The train would be the fastest. You would leave from the Windsor/Eton Riverside train station. The train is run by First Great Western Train. If you take the train from Paddington Station you will arrive at the Windsor Station which is a three minute walk from the castle, it's actually across the street you just have to walk up to the road. When you get to the road and are facing the castle you would turn to your left and walk down the road (it curves) about four blocks and Windsor/Eton Riverside Station is there on the right. Then you can get the train back to London from Hampton Court.
