I will be staying in London for 8 nights in April 09. Based on my advance research (thanks Rick!), I feel like London will keep me busy for most of my time there. However, I would like to do a jaunt out to Bath and Stonehenge (will probably stay one night in Bath). My question: is the National Express bus the only "budget" option for round-trip transportation to Bath? The 90-min trainride that the RS guidebook mentions is very expensive, and online options that I have found so far appear the same (L46 one way...ouch!). Any ideas? Thanks!
Cassie, the bus is your most economical option London to Bath; by all means, spend at least one night there. I can't help you as far as getting to Stonehenge as we did that portion of the trip by motorcycle, but I imagine there are tours out of Bath.
If you book now at www.nationalexpresseastcoast.com, you can get train tickets for as low as £9.50 each way. However, these tickets are non-exchangeable and non-refundable so you must commit to a specific departure date and time.
megatrain run trains London-Bath for £6 and upwards each way.Must prebook though, and I think its fares only show on its website not the other rail companires sites
I've just founda new rail fare search sire, railsaver.co.uk, it does a better job than most worjking out the cheapest fare.

Thanks everyone. I booked with the website nationalexpresseastcoast.com and it was L9.50 each way. Very reasonable, and with a wide variety of times to choose from. Thanks again for your help!
