My husband and I land at London Gatwick(from Rome) at 11pm and fly out of Heathrow, back to US, the next morning at 11 am. We're spending the night before our return flight at the Renaissance London Heathrow Hotel. What is the best way to travel from Gatwick to that hotel at that time of night and should we try to book transportation ahead? It will probably be almost midnight. Thanks for advice!
There's also a Yotel at Heathrow - if I were going to stay in a Yotel I'd rather get to Heathrow the night before. It's also worth checking for a hotel with a shuttle.
National Expresses are still running that late. £ 21.50 & takes about 1.5 hrs. Hoppa bus to hotel. nationalexpress.com Reservations not necessary.
thank you! Do we need to get tickets online before we get there or just purchase there?
sorry...i just saw the end of your post....Thank you!
The Hoppa Buses to hotels stop running at Heathrow before midnight (there are no flights at Heathrow between midnight and 5 am).
The National Express buses do not drop at hotels apart from the expensive Sofitel by T5. You're probably best advised to stay at Gatwick and get an early bus in the morning to Heathrow. There is a Yotel where you can rent a capsule by the hour or the Premier inn is walkable from the North Terminal and is raesobaly priced.
There are no hotels at Heathrow with shuttles they were banned. That why there are Hoppa Buses instead - which don't run at the time you will be travelling because there are no flights then at Heathrow.
Buses only go every 2 hours through the small hours between Gatwick at Heathrow at 23:30, 01:35, 03:35 so odds are you'll get the 01:35 schedule due Heathrow about an hour later. Stay at Gatwick. By 5:30 a,m the buses are running 5 or 6 each hour to Heathrow.
At that time of the night, it would probably be best to pre-book a car service to ensure you aren't waiting around the airport for the bus. I'd check on TripAdvisor- several of the "experts" there can recommend specific companies.
