Transportation from Bath England to Pembroke Wales (Skomer Island)

I will be in Bath for 2 weeks in June 2012 with my mother and sister - I'm not sure of the energy level that my mother will have but I would LOVE to see the puffins on Skomer Island. Is it possible to take a day trip from Bath to Skomer? If so, what is the best transportation option? I would love to hear from anyone who has gone to Skomer Island. Thank you in advance
