We had great service except on a Sunday when they were doing track work and we got stuck in a traffic jam in a bus near Exeter. That delayed us but it got worse when track work meant that we took a taxi to the wrong station in London.
So, really watch for track work during weekends on both the railroads and the Tube.
Good advice! When we were there last week there was no service on the weekend on the Circle Line, District line was closed from South Kensington -east, Jubilee line was closed from Green Park and Blackfriar's tube station is closed through 2011. The Central line also had some closures but I can't remember exactly where.
I had my laptop so was able to check the website each morning for closures but if you don't have internet access then plan your route, check the signs when you get to the station and always have an alternate route.
