My husband & I will be arriving at Heathrow on Sunday mid morning. If I remember from the last trip, the Heathrow Express and tubes are on a different schedule than on normal days. Any help on where I can check?
Arriving at Heathrow in mid morning it really wont affect you (maybe they wont run as frequently, but not a big issue). Go to the Tube station or rail station and get on the first one that comes. When you get to London, change to whatever Tube you were planning on A;lways a possibility that some trains or stations could be closed for maintenance or repairs- but that is not your quaetion
The week before you come, check http://www.tfl.gov.uk/tfl/livetravelnews/realtime/track.aspx?offset=weekend for Tube engineering work.
Thanks for the information. I'll check the website.
To save money, take the Heathrow Connect rather than the Express. It is less expensive and almost as fast. Weekends there is work on Tube and rail lines. Check the TFL site. If the Piccadilly line is closed, the Express or Connect should be running. Then you can make your connections to the Tube at Paddington Station. Notices about closures are prominently posted in the Tube stations. Sometimes detours using other lines or even buses are necessary.
If the Piccadilly Line is closed, they often allow Travelcard holders to use the Heathrow Connect without paying an extra fare.
Tube downtime is usually posted on a handwritten poster board in or near the entrance to most stations. But, saying that, I've never seen one at Heathrow.
Thanks All!
