In May, my husband and some friends will be in London and plan to go to the Duxford Air Musuem for a day trip. How do they get there? Cambridge seems to be the off point for the train, then what? Also is there any advantage to purchasing their tickets ahead of departure?
Here's what I found after doing a quick Google search. Take a train to Cambridge and a bus from there to the museum. See this page on the museum site for detailed directions.
The Duxford how do I get there page at http://www.iwm.org.uk/visits/iwm-duxford/directions has good directions of how to take the bus from the station to the airfield. Remember to hang onto your bus ticket for reduced admission at Duxford. In all the trips I have made there for air shows or just walking around I have never seen an advantage to buying admission ahead of time. Don't forget to see if it is still covered by the 2 for 1 promotion if you take a train. If your group can be divided by 3 or 4 the cheapest train tickets may be GroupSave 3 or Groupsave 4 tickets. Still eligible for the 2-for-1 promotion at the IWM Duxford. If they drive its free parking but those deals are off. Oyster does not reach anywhere near Cambridge.
Thank you, Nigel and Tim!! This is just exactly the info that I was needing!!
