Train fare for London

I'm trying to get my budget together for traveling in London. The best I've been able to figure out for trains is: -Getting from Heathrow to London center - 5 pounds, -Southwest train to get to Hampton court - 11 pounds, -southwest train to Windsor Castle -17 pounds. -For Victoria Station to Gatwick airport I found Southern train for 12.50 pounds and First Capital Trains for 9.40 pounds They can all be purchased at the station at the time of departure (necessary since I don't know the exact time I'd be boarding).
Does this all seem accurate or am I off. A lot of different prices appeared as I researched so I want to be certain that what I finally found was right.

If you are concerned about budget, you might look at the Green Line 702 bus to Windsor. Depending on the time of day the one way fare is from 1 to 7 pounds. It leaves from the Colonade behind Victoria Station and takes about an hour depending on traffic. They have a web site- google Green Line coaches, rainbow fare.

The Southwest line to Windsor is slow and circuitous - use the First Great Western service from London Paddington instead.

You woul take the train from Paddington to Windsor...return ticket (round trip) £8.50.......for Hampton Court again take the train from Waterloo (you could leave from Paddington Station but would change at Waterloo)..£8.50 for a return ticket.

When i was last in London, the train to Hampton Court was covered by my all-day tube/bus pass. I understand from other posts that it is also covered by the weekly pass (and Oyster?). The daily pass is purchased at the tube or train station but after something like 9.30 am.

If you buy an Oyster card at Heathrow and load it with some pay-as-you-go pounds, your fare for Heathrow-London on the Tube will be £4.50 during peak hours (before 09:30 on weekdays) or £2.50 during off-peak hours (after 09:30 on weekdays and anytime on weekends). First Capital Connect trains do not go to Victoria station. To get to Gatwick you can depart from either London Blackfriars (£9.40) or London Bridge (£7.90).

Oops! I missed the City Thameslink station. The fare from there is £9.40.

I keep getting a different prices depending on which web sight I go to (Southwestern, National first Rail, The train line, 1st great western) I like Paddington to Windsor and Waterloo to Hampton , both for 8.50 - return. But which train do I get on as it appears to be a few of them as mentioned above and none had this price. I will be getting a 7 day travel card zone 1-2, if this will matter. It appears that I can take Southern from Victoria to Gatewick for 3.70 (Does that sound right?)

If you go to Victoria- THE train to Hampton is easy to find. Buy your ticket and watch the board showing all the trains. Your train probably wont show until 15 or 10 minutes before departure. Go to the designated platform and get on. Ditto for Paddington to Slough (change for Windsor). THE train will be on the board about 10-15 minutes before departure. Returning is even easier, both Windsor and Hampton Court are the end of the line. When a train arrives its the one you want . Buy a "Day return" ticket. They are not much more in price than one-way. And a whole lot cheaper than two singles. The guys selling tickets are usually very helpful

Sounds like it will be self evident when I get there, thank you. One last question. I haven't seen the 8.50 price that you mentioned. All the prices I've seen are much more - from 11.00 to 34.00. Where does one get the 8.50?

To get the £3.70 fare on a Southern train from Victoria to Gatwick, you must book well in advance online and you must choose a specific departure date and time. The standard anytime fare is £12.50 during peak hours and £11.15 during off-peak hours.
