Is it easy to plan this trip on Brit Rail? From what I can see, it looks like no train changes - correct? I'm not traveling until the Fall, so no prices were provided. Any idea of the one-way cost? Thank you.
Yes, very easy at http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/. No changes with a few stops along the way. In fall 2007, we purchased a ticket for 14 GBP round trip. I don't believe the prices should be too much higher than that. Try putting dates for 60 days out and see what prices come up. Your price should be pretty close to that.
Lynn, Buy you tickets as soon as possible since they are cheapest as far in advance as possible and go up until the day of departure. Edwin

The night train works wonderfully- except you arrive quite early in the morning. We were able to drop our luggage at our hotel
Megatrain/Megabus is bus only for Edinburgh-London. There is a limit to how far in advance you can book train tickets and get a discount fare. It's usually about 12 weeks. As of today, I could book a discount fare as low as £12.00 up to and including 15 May for daytime trains. For 16 May and beyond the only fare shown is £113.60. Book on the East Coast site as soon as discount fares appear for your travel date. If you book early (up to 12 weeks allowed) on the ScotRail site, you can get a bargain berth as low as £19.00 on the Caledonian Sleeper.
