Tours in Edinburgh & London

My husband & I will be vacationing in Edinburgh and London in late May and early June. Can anyone recommend any day tours? We will be using public transportation.

You can easily take the train from Edinburgh to Stirling and see the castle there. Also, there is a public bus out to Banockburn. You can also take the train to Glasgow and explore that city. It's an hour or less to get there.

Go to the tourist information center for other tours. I believe that there are ones to the Borders including the abby's in Melrose, Jedburgh and so on.

If you have even a remote interest in Scotland's literary heritage or an interest in pubs, I highly recommend the Edinburgh Literary Pub Tour. Two actors take you on an evening walking tour of the city, stopping for a drink at three pubs along the way, while they act out a staged argument about the inspiration for Scotland's literary output: the city's intellectual scene or the lowly depths of the city's pubs and brothels. It's terrific fun, a great intro to the city's streets, and you discover some terrific pubs, too. [Note: several non-native English speakers in our group found the Scottish accents too difficult to follow. But the rest of us Americans and Brits enjoyed the atmosphere, even if we didn't understand every word of Robbie Burn's poetry.]

Linda - This past summer our family took a Ghost & Ghouls tour with Meracat tours in Edinburgh. It was a night time tour and I found the tour to be quite enjoyable. There is also a tour company near Edinburgh Castle(can't remember the name of hand) that my wife and kids used to go on a day tour to Stirling Castle and Loch Lomond.
