Hello all, We are contemplating Rick Steves Tour - 14 days in Ireland. We are looking at September - maybe August - any suggestions? Does either month have an advantage over the other for this particular tour? Also we have never done the Rick Steves tours (have taken his books with us our our own adventures). Anyone have comparisons of his tours vs other tours out there? Thanks so much!

Thanks so much Rose! I will check it out.
My husband and I did a Tauck tour of Ireland, last June. We spent three days in Shannon before our 14 day tour began. The tour ended in Dublin. The Tauck tour was beyond fantastic. Ireland and its people are the greatest. We stayed at the Ashford Castle for two nights. It was too short a time. The Ashford Castle is the former summer home for the Guinness Family. The grounds were spectacular. We stayed at first class hotels and ate fantastic meals. Our tour guide was wonderful. The route was very comprehensive. There were 26 of us. We have taken four Tauck tours and are going on another Tauck tour to Australia and New Zealand this October. We enjoyed southern Ireland more than northern Ireland (Belfast). We saw the newly opened Titanic museum, where the Titanic was actually built. It wasn't that big a deal though. You can't judge Ireland by Dublin and Belfast. We weren't that impressed with the Trinity College and the Book of Kells. You will adore Ireland. Everyday the scenic route was more beautiful than the previous day.
