Torridon in Scotland

As part our car tour of the the Scottish highlands and Islands in early June we are considering spending a day or two on the return from Skye to Edinburgh somewhere along the coast north of Skye, perhaps near Torridon. We heard glowing reports of the beauty of this area from an acquaintance that works at the local REI and is from Liverpool . Can anyone recommend a specific village/area and inn or bed and breakfast in this area?

Thanks,
Larry

Larry, this is a gorgeous part of Scotland. I've not stayed in the area, but I've walked driven around it. Last September I drove with a friend around the peninsula that is directly south of Loch Torridon and it was spectacular even in a total downpour. We had a nice coffee break at the Hotel in Lochcarron. Also, I've been to Gairloch. Have you tried posting on Tripadvisor too? There are locals there who might have some good advice. Are you looking to walk (hike)? Undiscovered Scotland is a great online site. http://www.undiscoveredscotland.co.uk/torridon/torridon/index.html

In June, we are visiting the Applecross peninsula and staying in Shieldaig at Tighaneileen hotel. I probably spent twenty hours researching Wester Ross before choosing this place; it's also supposed to have a good restaurant. We also considered the Applecross Inn in Applecross, but Shieldaig seemed a better location for our itinerary. You might want to check out both locations. Loch Maree is supposed to be beautiful. check out google images to see what it looks like in that area.

Very very good choice.
I suppose you could consider as far north as Ullapool, the jouney round the coast is excellent. The days are very long won't be dark till 11pm. You cOuld see Corrieshallach gorge that way too.
Being as you are form UT, why not sTAy at the lighthouse at Melvaig..be different
