hey guys on my return home i will be flying from dublin at 10am on a sunday to chicago. does anyone know what time i should get to the airport? i see that there is US immigration in Dublin and i wasn't sure how long that would take. (i bought my flight expecting to do customs in chicago) thanks!

You should arrive no later than 7:30, preferably earlier. In addition to the regular security procedures, the immigration line can be long/slow. And you will go past customs (just go to the green "nothing to declare" line) in Chicago. Immigration and customs are not the same thing.
We just got back from our trip. It was a GOOD 2 hours of jumping through hoops until we got to our terminal. The Aer Lingus line was long, then to Irish security, then to customs, then to US security, then to the gate. We expected to have to do something in Chicago, but we didn't have to (with the exception of picking up your luggage). **IF you have an oversized bag or luggage, they will not take it at the check-in, you will have to stand in another line in order to drop it off at the "oversized" luggage stand. We had a small folding stroller that they considered oversized and had to wait in line again.
i shouldn't have any checked bags. (paking 4 outfits and washing as i go) i had arranged a 5 hour layover with American Airlines for going through all that in chicago. thanks for the suggestions. the only issue i will have to address when i get to Dublin is how to get to the airport. 7am sounds doable thanks!
