Three Tuns Pub in Canterbury went bankrupt

According to a person I met on the street, this historic pub closed for the first time in 500 years. He said it has new owners. Scaffolding covers the building and it is totally unrecognizable.

Pub closures are a big concern in England. I heard it was something like 35 a week!

I lived in the UK in the late 1990s and I took a particular dislike to all the bland chain pubs. McDonald's pubs, I call them.

There is an organisation in Britain called CAMRA (Campaign for Real Ale) and they lobby for the preservation of quality traditional ales and good old fashioned genuine pubs.
