The Ridgemount Hotel in London?

Has anyone stayed at the Ridgemount Hotel in London? It rates #95 of 1,071 on TripAdvisor, but I know I shouldn't depend on that site alone. Thanks,
Laura

We stayed there once. It was okay, but just okay. Compared to a lot of hotels in that area, the prices were a bit lower. I don't require luxury. I just require cleanliness and comfort and I'd say the Ridgemount was on the slightly lower end of that spectrum. It wasn't terrible, but it was nothing to shout about. The beds, in particular, we found a bit uncomfortable, but that is an individual preference. The breakfast was fine and the location was good for us and was fairly convenient to a tube stop.

D.D. damns the Ridgemont with faint praise. I found it perfectly acceptable and typical of a London budget hotel. The folks who run it are amiable & helpful, provide a huge breakfast and stood outside to wave us goodbye when we left by taxi for the airport.

According to the previous poster: "D.D. damns the Ridgemont with faint praise." Well, I didn't mean to damn it nor to praise it. I only meant to give an accurate idea of what our own experiences were at that hotel. The OP can consider that along with all the many reviews of the hotel on various forums, or she can disregard it as she chooses. So to reiterate, on the plus side: the price, location and proximity to a tube stop, and the breakfast. On the minus side: comfort of the beds and the room in general, and was just adequately cleaned for an old building but wasn't sparkling. As I said, it was an okay experience but nothing to shout about. About what you'd expect (or in my opinion, perhaps a bit less) for the money. The folks who run it did their jobs adequately. Nobody waved at us coming or going, but that's not something that is important to me.

"Nobody waved at us coming or going but that's not important to us." Well, it's not important to us either and it had never happened before nor has it happened since, but it was one of those things I remember with pleasure. I don't remember the beds, comfortable or not. Maybe the friendly send-off erased them from my memory.

Thank you for your opinions. :) What you described is what I am looking for in a hotel - a good price, good location and proximity to a tube stop, and decent breakfast. I have booked 6 nights at The Ridgemount Hotel. Thanks again,
Laura
