Just a few more days until I leave! I've been gathering information here for the past few months, and I thought I'd post my proposed itinerary for review. Please let me know if you have any suggestions at all, I am open to all ideas! Sun Aug 21 - depart Mon Aug 22 - flight arrives ~ 6:25am; take the Piccadilly Line to Kings Cross; drop off luggage at left luggage, head over to the British Library, opens 9:30; train to York leaves 1:08pm; arrive in York 3:35pm, wander around and explore Tues Aug 23 - visit York Minster, stroll Shambles, Yorkshire Museum, walk the walls Wed Aug 24 - North Yorkshire Moors Rail trip - should I take the train, or just us buses? I really want to visit Goathland (Harry Potter connections!) and Whitby Thurs Aug 25 - 10am train to London, arrive ~ 12:30pm, drop off luggage, take 2pm London Walk, visit Cabinet War Rooms Fri Aug 26 - Tower of London, Museum of London, at night Ceremony of the Keys Sat Aug 27 - London Walks Explorer trip to Avebury & Lacock Sun Aug 28 - London Walks Explorer trip to The Cotswolds Mon Aug 29 - Westminster Abbey verger tour, then off to Hampton Court, 7pm visit to Dennis Severs House Tues Aug 30 - Sir John Soanes Museum and British Museum Wed Aug 31 - Windsor Castle and Eton
Thurs Sept 1 - flight departs 1pm
And my questions: Would you book tickets to the theater online, or should I wait until I get there and book at the box office? I am thinking about attending one of the BBC proms...again should I book online or buy in person? Thanks!

revised tour looks very workable. I would expect you will be tired your first evening in York- thats a busy day. Most other days looks like you have time to be flexible and get in some "wandering time". Theater: Unless there is something very specific I absolutely must see, i usually wait until I get there (read Time Out magzine or exuivalent) and see what I can get at TKTS booth, or which "stars" are in plays around town. Yorkshire Moors- cant help- we usually have a car
For the Proms, you can check the playlist for the ones you are interested in on-line. Many sell out.
Plan looks very workable, you're not trying to cram too much in. I' ve done some of the London Walks Explorer trips this year when I can fit them in and they have all been excellent. I did the one day Cotswolds trip with Richard in May and it was terrific, cant speak highly enough about it. Noticing the Harry Potter theme (Avebury and Goathland) - you probably know this already - but I believe there is a Platform 9 3/4 set up at Kings X - for photo opportunities. I read recently that they had moved where it is because of building work.
