The Chamberlain Hotel London

Has anyone stayed at The Chamberlain Hotel in London before? It looks very nice, just wanted any input. We're looking to book 4 nights in May 2014. Price is a bit high ($266 per night) but it does appear to be in a nice location. Does anyone know if there are nice but less expensive hotels near London Bridge? Or are there other areas I should be looking at? This will be our first time in London. Thanks!

Do you have a copy of RS London Guide Book yet? If so, great. If not, you can order one elsewhere on this web site. It is full of useful information for you to use in your planning for your first time in London, including hotel recommendations. We used that guide book the first time we went to London and found it very helpful. I have no affiliation with the RS company.

Is there any particular reason you need to be near London Bridge? There are good hotels all over London in areas convenient to tourists and business travelers. EDIT: I just mapped it. This hotel is near Tower Bridge, not London Bridge. Hotels around this location are Doubletree by Hilton Tower Bridge, and Hotel Indigo Tower Hill, to name just two. But if you are looking to do the tourist sights, you could stay in a more central location, such as Bloomsbury or Westminster. The hotel you mentioned is at the east end of London tourist sights, very near The Tower, but away from many other sights. Not a problem, really, you will have two tube stations near you. The price you mentioned is not all that bad for London. You will find some good hotels priced slightly less, but many priced higher. The one you mentioned looks luxurious from their website. You asked, "Does anyone know if there are nice but less expensive hotels near London Bridge?" On the south end of London Bridge, I recommend you check Premier Inn London Southwark. Good hotel on the south bank, walking distance to the Globe and other attractions. Check their price. I agree with Charlie. You need a guidebook and map of London.
