Does anyone have any updated information concerning the possible strike at London airports? I will be traveling there in a few days and am very concerned.
Linda
The latest is that there will be talks between the management and union on Monday.
Under British law the union has to give seven days notice of the strike so the earliest any strike can take place is 23rd August.
Any strikes would close Heathrow, Stansted, Southampton, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen airports. Any other airport, including Gatwick, will be unaffected.

The best way to keep up to date is probably to check back regularly with the BBC site.
Good luck.

In Scotland, Inverness, Prestwick will be open. I think that Dundee has an non-BAA airport as well. Just be sure you're connecting through Gatewick or one of the other non BAA strike.
In the Scotsman on Friday they were predicting 2,000 flight cancellations. The forum under the article voiced skepticism, but also pointed out that this was bad for Scotland as it's the heart of the Edinburgh Festival. Another interesting point is that BAA is trying to institute a drop off fee of one pound for every vehicle that drops passengers off at the airport. This has really irritated the locals and I expect that ultimately BAA will not introduce this new fee. But stay tuned!

As of yesterday a deal has been struck and strike action appears to have been averted. Watch BBC 24 news for updates
