Thanksgiving in Ireland

Any itinerary suggestions for a family with 3 teens spending Thanksgiving week in Ireland. We're flying in/out of Dublin. Too many great sights in Ireland are closed in late November!

It's hard to know what to suggest when we don't know what you have checked into. Are you traveling out from the Dublin area, or staying in the city? What kinds of activities do you and your kids like? A lot of things do close or drastically shorten their days/hours after Oct 30, but there is still plenty open. Let us know what you have considered and we'll see if we can't come up with some other suggestions.

We are flying in & out of Dublin and plan on spending the first 2 days seeing the city. That's all we have so far. We have been to Ireland before and kissed the Blarney stone & visited where our family was from, but haven't seen any other "touristy" sites. Since we only a few days and we're going off season, I wasn't sure what our best bets were. Rick's books say Dingle, but it looks like so much is closed. We could do a Belfast day or so or go to Galway...This is why I've posted...HELP!!

What about taking a quick trip over to Scotland. You could catch a cheap flight out of Dublin or use the ferry.

The main sight, primary attraction of Ireland is its nature, landscapes. And that never closes. From Dublin do a day trip into the Wicklow mountains. Continue onwards to Killarney, do the Ring of Kerry and Ring of Skells. Drive down to Cork with its interesting downtown area. Definitely do Crookhaven and the light house at the Southern most tip of Ireland. We spend one week in the counties of Kerry and Cork alone without hardly ever going inside a so-called attraction. There is SOOO much to see and do outside!

Beaufield Mews restaurant in Stillorgan, just a few miles from the city centre, are serving a thanksgiving dinner. I have just seen it posted on the dublin tourism website. Egg nog and traditional dinner for €30 - seems like good value!
