Thames Path National Trail

Has anyone walked the Thames Path National Trail from Maidenshead to Windsor. We are planning a trip to London in April and I thought this might make a good day trip.

I've walked this a few times (I live locally). Its a very easy short walk along the track by the Thames. But its fairly monotonous, flat farmland and the best bit may be arriving in Windsor.
There are some lovely walks by the Thames, but this is not one of the best. Unlike the US the official trails are not normally the best options for walking unless you are in the mountains. We have a dense network of public footpaths where you have right of way all over the place, best option is to buy an Ordnace Survey map and do your own thing, there is also a lot of local books with titles like pub walks in East Berkshire.
If you want to combine a walk with a visit to Windsor try these two self guided walks, but there are plenty more depending on your interest

If waht you want is a workout then just head into the Royal Park from the back of Windsor Castle and head for Virginia Water about 3 or 4 miles away, its 1.5 miles around the lake and back to Windsor or better still there is a train station at Virginia Water with trains from London Waterloo and walk one way through Windsor Great Park - its a very nice walk especially if you're into gardens.
