Tell us your favorite London Bus routes

We're going to be in London for 10 days and I'm looking forward to taking the bus around town for short trips or medium trips to save energy and get a good view of the city. Has anyone any advice on taking the bus in London? We'll have an Oyster Card to save on fares. I hope to take the heritage bus Route 9 from the Albert Hall and many other routes. Thanks!

Take the number 11 bus, too. Pick it up at Westminster Cathedral, and it'll take you past the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben, Whitehall and Horse Guards, Trafalgar Square, and St. Paul's. Transfer at St. Paul's to the No. 15 bus and take a run out to the Tower of London.

No. 15 runs between Paddington, thru Piccadilly and Trafalgar Square, past St. Paul's and on to the Tower of London. The entire trip takes about 45 min and you can get off anywhere along the route.

Hi Dave,

We have just returned from London and we love the #24 bus which runs from Pimlico area to Hampstead near the Heath. We have lived in the area in years past and always go back. We also always find our way up to Hampstead village and then walk out to Kenwood House. It's a great day of sightseeing and there are places to pause, sit down, eat lunch, or just have tea and pastry at Louis in the village.

We took the 14 from South Kensington up to the British Museum. We took the 9 from Picadilly to the Albert Hall and back. We took the 51 from the Albert Hall to Notting Hill. And we took the 70 as well. I tried to catch a Heritage Route number 9 but they come so infrequently (seemed like about once every 30 minutes) it turned out to be a waste of time. I really wonder how long they will continue to run. Every time I saw one, it was nearly empty.
