Tea in the Cotswolds

I was going to visit the Orangerie in London for tea, but thought perhaps I might like to enjoy afternoon tea in the Cotswolds instead. Any recommendations?

Hi Laurel. I haven't narrowed that down yet. We will be there for two days, and during one of those days, we intend to visit Blenheim Palace. I suspect we will be in the Moreton on Marsh vicinity as we will be traveling by train, thus relying on the local transport, perhaps even rent bicycles. I've had suggestions to visit Bourton on the Water, and another area I cannot recall at the moment. I'm open to any and all suggestions regarding the Cotswolds. Thank you.

We had tea in both Bourton-on-the-Water and Broadway both beautiful villages. I can't remember the name of the cafe in Broadway but it's on the main road so you can't miss it. Bourton-on-the-Water there is Riverside Cafe and The Mad Hatter. If traveling by bus in the Cotswolds that will limit you to the villages you can go to. The buses go to Bourton-on-the-Water and Broadway but they don't go to some of the small quaint villages.

Why not do both. I really enjoy my teas in England. And the tea at Kensington's Orangerie is not to be missed-the best selection of sweets ever in a wonderful atmosphere.

Diane- Just on the northern edge of the Cotswolds is the village of Broadway. Tisane's Tea Rooms there is a wonderful place to have tea.

Diane, I will be in Moreton on Marsh June 16 and 17 and will post a reply to your request after sampling the teas :). Don't know when you're going to be there but look for the post.

Thank you for all suggestions, and thank you too, Tom. I look forward to your post. I will be there toward the middle of September. I'm still thinking about renting a car while in the Cotswolds, but haven't confirmed if I will or not. So those suggestions for outerlying areas, and smaller villages are still welcome, and might even help sway my decision about renting a car.

Diane, if you want to be able to visit some of the very small quaint villages in the Cotswolds you will need a car, buses do not go to them. You can get to several Bourton-on-the-Water, Stow-on-the-Wold, Broadway by bus.
