taxi fare from airport to hotel in glasgow, scotland

I was relieved, after reading the graffiti wall, that Scotland and Ireland were not metioned very often regarding scams and such, but I'm alittle worried about taking the taxi from the airport to the hotel. I've never taken a taxi before and I'm worried that I'll make a stupid mistake and end up getting fleeced. Does anybody have an idea of how much a taxi ride should cost (in very general numbers)?

You might want to consider taking the bus from the airport into Glasgow. It was very inexpensive, friendly driver who will help you with which stop you need and a place for luggage inside the bus. Something to think about.

I agree about taking the bus. I have taken buses and trains from airports all over the world. And saved hundreds of dollars. Not all airports are serviced by busses; so take advantage of Glasgow's.

When you arrive at the terminal ask an employee where to catch the bus into town. If you dont find someone to help, go to the Tourist Information Desk in the terminal and ask.

Thanks so much! I can't believe I never even thought of the bus.

If you take a taxi, you get them at the airport and the cost is the same for all- I paid just over 20 Pound to downtown Glasgow in May

Here's another vote for the bus. When you get out to main area with your luggage there is information center. They will sell you your ticket, tell you your stop, and tell you where to catch the bus. It's easy and affordable. I don't think I've ever waited longer than 5 minutes!

Please be aware that you may not understand a single word that a Glaswegian taxi driver says to you. Their accent is THICK! For more info, read Bill Bryson's "Notes from a Small Island."
