taking the train from LHR to EDI

due to the BA strike our connecting flight has been cancelled. we are now looking at taking the train. does anyone have a recommendation for how long we should plan between touch down in LHR and the train departing from Kings Cross?

Allow up to one hour to clear immigration/passport control and another hour to take the Tube (Piccadilly Line) directly from LHR to King's Cross/St Pancras. Allow at least 30 minutes to walk from the Tube station to the train station, buy your tickets, and find the track from which the train will depart. All in all, I recommend giving yourselves a three-hour margin.

I'd make it four....here's why and it's called my just in case theory...just in case your flight is late (volcano ash is now over the UK), just in case there's a problem with the tube, just in case something else is going on.

Worst comes to worse, you sit down at Kings Cross and get a cup of coffee and a scone.

funny, i always include a "what if" factor as well. turns out the train schedule allows for almost 2 hours to clear customs and catch the tube to Kings X and then connect to the EDI direct. that puts us at almost 4 hours which, as you said, allows for a bit more leisure and maybe a cup of coffee. thanks again.
