Super Shuttle To Stockholm

Looking at options to get from Arlanda to our hotel in central Stockholm and the Super Shuttle looks like a good choice. Anyone here used them before and if so, what did you think? Do you have to prepay online when making a reservation or do you pay when you board? Thanks

For comparison, check out the Arlanda Express. It's an ultra-modern high-speed shuttle train that zips you from the airport right to downtown Stockholm's central station, where you can transfer to the city's metro system. Journey from the airport takes only 20 minutes. http://www.arlandaexpress.com/start.aspx

The supershuttle is relatively new (just started last year). According to the website you pay with a credit card when you make the reservation. Where is your hotel and how many are you? Depending on where you are staying, there could be better options. Other options include the train (Arlanda Express), bus (flygbuss), and taxi. I recall reading a not so great review about the Supershuttle in Stockholm on tripadvisor. You might try doing a search on the Sweden forum on tripadvisor.com to see if you can find some of the user comments. A downside of these shuttles (I've used them in other cities in the past) is when the shuttle is full and you are the last passenger to be dropped off. However, there is no way of know if the shuttle will be full or the sequence for drop off until you are actually on. Another downside is waiting for them.

Hi Laura and thanks for your reply. Believe it or not, I have already done all of the things you have suggested. We will be staying at the Parlan, which looks to be a couple of miles from where the train and bus would arrive in Stockholm. Normally this would be an enjoyable stroll for my wife and I but after enduring a (most likely) sleepless flight in an economy seat I know we will just want to be dropped off at our destination, so it's probably down to a taxi or the shuttle. Looks like a taxi would run at least $75 just to get to town, making the shuttle a much better deal at $52 all the way to the Parlan. That's why I'd like to get some feedback from folks on this board if anyone has used the shuttle themselves. Will

You are correct. if you want to go directly from the airport to the door of the hotel, this is probably the least expensive option for 2 people for your hotel. Below is the tripadvisor post that I was referring to, but it sounds like you may have already seen this: http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic-g189806-i232-k4992386-Has_anyone_used_Super_Shuttle_from_Arlanda_Airport-Sweden.html I did a quick search for reviews on Swedish language sites, but didn't find any ... probably because it hasn't been around for long. If you end up taking a taxi from Arlanda, do make sure that you go with either Taxi Stockholm, Taxi Kurir, or Taxi 020. The price from the airport will be fixed and verify the price before you get in. Taxis in Stockholm are not regulated; these 3 companies are reliable.

Several years ago when we went to Stockholm for the first time, we were going to take the Super Shuttle. However, after a 10 hour flight to Heathrow, a 4 hour layover there, then the flight to Stockholm (without sleeping on any of the flights) we took a taxi - right to the door of our hotel, and it was a great thing to do!

A big thank you to all who have replied. The super shuttle is no longer an option. Their website now says they are closing in Sweden next month. So, taxi it is.
