Suggestions for filling extended evenings in London

Hi folks Need suggestions for filling two afternoons in London with 2 girls (11 and 5) First evening: Arrving at hotel and checkin around 4pm (Youth Central)
Second evening: Arriving from York at 3pm. (Hotel near Hyde Park) Need an itinerary for filling out these extended evenings- somewhere lively with restaurants. How about Borough Market/ Shakespeare Theatre south bank/bank side one of the evenings? We have Rick's full day itinerary for all the major sights the rest of the days. Thanks! Priya

What about a trip to the Theatre to see Lion King? Covent Garden is another suggestion- lots of restaurants and sometimes street entertainers too.

As cheesy as it sounds I think the Duck Tours would be a great choice! Or one of the Thames River boats. Walking across Tower Bridge is another option. Also Hyde Park and Regents Park both have boats you can rent. Or take a canal boat trip staring either at Warwick Ave or Camden Markets. As far as Borough Market goes - it is open Thursday - Saturday. Avoid Saturday if you can!

Covent Garden. Leicester Square. Always buzzing. Not sure if the merry go round is still there though. Anybody been through here in the last month to say it's still operating. Hamley's toy shop is open until 9pm and well worth the visit. Walk across Westminster Bridge to the London Eye.

If this is in the summer, then the South Bank area is definitely hopping, and the girls may like seeing the street performances that often go on there. Plus they may like walking across the footbridge if they don't mind heights. If you want lively, that area fits the bill. Plus there is the replica Francis Drake ship that they might enjoy visiting.

Duck tour in Boston was a blast and the kids loved it. London would probably be fun too.
