Study Abroad storage question

My son is studying abroad this semester at Univ of York. He plans on leaving a couple of weeks early for school so he can travel and visit some friends. He is of the "less is more" school of travel and is going to be using his backpack for luggage. He will be in York during November and December and will need some warmer clothing and also some more clothing as he won't have as much time to do laundry. He needs to bring more things for the semester so he will need suitcase for those items. Dad is hoping to save money and just have son bring suitcase with him and find a storage facility/locker to stow the suitcase for the next three weeks. Then when son goes back to London to meet semester abroad group he can retrieve his luggage from storage unit and save us the hassle and money of shipping the items over from home. Any idea of storage places or lockers where he could stow one med sized suitcase. I have no idea and think hubby is not being realistic though I love his idea. Also any better ideas on what son could do? Thanks!

Can he leave it with one of those friends he's visiting before the semester starts or one of their family members if they permanently live in the UK? Has he contacted the University of York to see if there is a way he could store it there? My husband's college here will let students store a few labeled things between semesters for a short period.

Study abroad group said that it will not store luggage, but I didn't think of contacting the university directly. His friends are peppered all over Europe, Denmark, Scotland, France, so it wouldn't be that convenient because he'd have to go back to retrieve the luggage and he will be traveling with us in England for a week. Wish hubby wasn't so insistent about this. I will get him to contact the university and see what they say. thanks

If the University won't store it, contact Excess Baggage Company in London - they offer luggage storage rates (daily and weekly) and have storage facilities at the airports as well as the larger train stations (like St. Pancras). I believe they even offer a student discount, so ask when you are getting a quote.

Thanks Ceidleh for the Left Luggage idea. I read something on a post about someone doing left luggage short term (12 hours) but I had no idea that we could do this for two weeks. The website is great and will work out great for son as he has to meet his study abroad group back in London. I think this is the way to go! Thanks again!
