Hi, my 3 college kids and I will be visiting Ireland over their spring break in March. We will not be getting a car. Dose anyone know if the International Student cards(ISIC) are worth the money? There also is and Ireland student card but I don't think we have time to get it before we leave. We are backpackers and use train/bus for transportation.
Do a search in the box in the upper right corner of this page and see what you can find.
If that doesn't work, search google for "International
student cards". Look for webpages which offer users comments.
I got one when I was in grad school and used it in Ireland and Germany. It saves a few euros on each admission to sights/museums/etc. We had rental cars in each place, so I don't know about discounts on the trains and buses.
Thanks, we will go ahead and apply for the ISIC cards.
I had on back in the day... but in my opinion, they're only worthwhile for an extended stay, like a semester. I would not bother for a short visit.
I agree with Tom - I had one because I spent a semester in London and it was worth it then. But for a short visit, I'm not sure I'd spend the money. Check on Bus Eireann's website to see how much you'd save. You can also look up on the ISIC website which sights offer discounts.
