Hi Everyone, The itinerary we have make includes 2 nights in Galway followed by 2 nights in Rossnowlaugh near Donegal Town. We have contemplated detour away from the normal root to visit Strokestown Work House in Rosscommon. I think this likely adds about 2 hours or so to the trip. Wondering if anyone has gone to this museum and if they thought it was worth seeing. It looks facinating to us, but the Galway to Donegal trip is fairly long without the detour, so if the place is lame perhaps we will skip it.
Thanks in Advance, Rob
Haven't been there myself, but maybe this link will help. Doesn't sound like there's much left there, but maybe i'm reading it wrong. http://www.workhouses.org.uk/Strokestown/
I don't know if this will sway you one way or another, but here is a link to an article of an interview with Declan Jones, general manager of the park, done in 1999: http://www.clemson.edu/cedp/cudp/scr/articles/scr_32-1_pearsall.pdf I'm curious myself about the site as my husband and I are hoping to visit Strokestown when we go to Ireland.
