Does anyone know about a Stonehenge only tour where we can walk around the stones?
There is only access to the stones before and after they close. You can either apply (months in advance) for a slot from the Heritage society that runs the site or sign up with a commercial tour place that has reserved these slots in advance. This is the official request permission site: http://www.english-heritage.org.uk/daysout/properties/stonehenge/stone-circle-access/ I don't have any experience with tours that pre-book these slots but they exist and can handle transportation for you is that's an issue. Hope that helps,

We did the private access tour a few years ago - booked it at the Stonehenge web site. We went early morning (7:30, I think) and had the place to ourselves except for the very sleepy guard. It is definitely worthwhile if you are interested in megalithic England. Nothing "new ageish" about it!... There are times when the private access is not available - late June is one of them.
We booked a Gray Line tour at Gray Line Tours.com. We did a half day tour to Stonehenge. It isn't that exciting in our opinion.
