I am traveling to Stirling Scotland for a seminar. I will be landing at Edinburgh Intl Airport. Any suggestions as to the best way to get to Stirling from Edinburgh Airport?
Thanks in advance for any advice.
You can take a bus to Haymarket one Waverly train station and then take the train to Stirling. It's the Airlink 100 bus I believe. Trains to Stirling should be frequent. There is also a bus to Inverkeithing in Fife. I don't think that is the best option though. Nigel will likely know. ; ) Pam
Pamela: Thanks for the information. It looks like I can get a train from either Haymarket or Waverly Station. Do you know if one is better than the other - more direct? I can take the Airlink bus from Edinburgh airport to both Haymarket and Waverly train station. I am going this next weekend so nothing like last minute planning. Thanks
The train from Waverly stops at Haymarket on the way to Stirling. If you want to take a bit to see Edinburgh, go all the way to Waverly. It's only a few minutes apart. Pam
Lots of construction in Edinburgh at the moment causing detours on some bus routes. I took the Airlink bus last month and I don't remember stopping at Haymarket station so you might check with the company before going. Waverly Station stop is right across the street from the train station.
The Edinburgh airport site still lists Haymarket as a stop. But still you should ask. Unless you've bought your RR ticket in advance, it would not be a disaster to end up at Waverly. BTW Waverly is the name of the train station. Pam
Pam and Tamara: Thanks so much for the information. I will definitely ask Airlink about the stop, especially since there has been some construction in Edinburgh. Susan
The Airlink 100 bus goes to Waverly Train Station. You have to get off on the bridge and schlepp your luggage across the street. It's a short walk. There are a few stops between the airport and train station. Once you get on the bus at the airport - plan on 30 minutes ride to Waverly. Bus has luggage rack in passenger area. Runs constantly between airport and Waverly train station. The bus drivers are very nice about answering questions and helping out tourists. Cost - One way from airport to Waverly Train Station 3.50 GBP per adult.
