What is your favorite English dessert? I had to pose this as a question you see. www.stickeytoffeepudding.com This is so good. Here in the Seattle area we can buy it at Whole Foods.
Stickey toffe pudding is my favorite along with bannofee (not sured I spelled it correctly). Thanks for the tip about Whole Foods having it. Haagen-Daaz makes Stickey Toffee Pudding ice cream. My daughter loves it but I wasn't a fan of it. The best stickey toffee pudding was in Broadway at the Baker Arms.
My favorite is trifle. I actually bought my mother a trifle bowl so she can fix it properly! We all wanted something a step up from lady fingers in custard with berries! Pam
Definitely sticky toffee pudding!!!
Forgot to say, my favorite was from Burghley Manor in Stamford.
There are many fantastic BRITISH desserts so don't limit yourself to just the (yummy) Sticky Toffee Pud. Have a look at "Spotted Dick" and "Bread and Butter pudding" from the Wikipedia list:

Cheers

I love Spotted Dick also. I had a great SD dessert in Bath at a pub. The English are well known for their sweet tooth . . . there are lots of desserts!
Jam roly-poly with custard, steamed golden syrup pudding with custard, treacle tart, apple or rhubarb crumble, eccles cakes (also charmingly known as 'flies graveyard') and bread pudding (which is different from bread and butter pudding). It's a dentist's paradise.
And I just drooled!
There are too many to choose from! We may not be renowned for our cuisine, but we do know a thing or two about puddings. The Abbey Tea Rooms in Glastonbury do an amazing sticky toffee pudding, apple and blackberry crumble and a hot ginger pudding. My mum's trifle is legendary 'cause she puts so much sherry in it that you could get drunk just sniffing it. Mind you, that's better than her Christmas cake and mince pies which have so much alcohol in them that they should come with a public health warning!
Oh Laura, this sounds delightful! I love booze in my dessert! I'm going to London in October, and you bet, I'll try everything!
Eton Mess..especially with a splash of sherry in the strawberries! Plus its easy to make!
Try Whiskey cake! And REAL Scottish Shortbread!
