Along with my teen, I would like to stay with a retired couple or individual to get a real experience of Ireland's countryside for 2-4 weeks in the summer months. I am an Art teacher at a middle school and I would like to develop units of instruction based on local culture & traditions. Has anyone heard of a program that might offer this type of arrangement or a local B & B that would be interested in an extended stay.

I once stayed in a B&B in Navan, Co. Meath, Ireland, and one of the other guests (an American girl) was staying there for six weeks while she did an internship at a business nearby. I'm sure you could make similar arrangements with just about any B&B.

Take a look at www.wwoof.ie as I believe this may provide you with the kind of opportunity for in-depth interaction w/ the locals during an extended stay.
