staying in Edinburgh one night

I'm finding that a lot of the B & B's, Guest houses don't want to book anyone for just one night.. a Friday night. so, we might be forced to look at the Premier Inn or Has anyone stayed at any of the Travelodges. We would like to stay right close to the train station. Thanks

We've stayed at the Royal British several times. It is across Princes Street from Waverly station. But be sure to check it out on TripAdvisor. Unfortunely we haven't been in more than 5 years.
They did have an excellent breakfast when we were there.

Shelley, take a look at Holiday Inn Express @ 300 Cowgate . Nice ,very quiet and only one block from the Mile . about a ten minute walk to Waverly Station .

Travelodges are pretty grim and I have very low standards.

Try The Parliament House...good prices, good food, and only a 5 minute walk to Waverly station( the main train station in Edinburgh). I stayed there for 3 nights and would have no problem going back...

I stayed at the Royal British Hotel for one night this last May and found it to be quite nice and extremely affordable (shockingly affordable in fact). It's in a great location and I was lucky enough to get a room with a south-facing window, so I had a great view of Old Town.

I stayed one night at The Walton, no problem. However, if you are traveling during the Festival and on a weekend, I can see where you might have an issue...
