has anyone stayed in a castle in Ireland? We will be travelling through the south of Ireland for our honeymoon and thought that would be a nice option for one night. Any suggestions?
Andra,
I haven't been to Ireland yet, but my husband and I have saved this link for when we decide to go. Hope this helps!

We stayed at Clontarf Castle in Dublin....it was a very nice option in the city.....service and property were great.............check it out...but you may want the atmosphere and experience in the countryside
Many years ago, I stayed at the Adare Castle in Adare, County Limerick. Charming little town and the castle was so beautiful, I especially loved the grounds.
Andra. If you are prepared to 'splurge' for a couple of nights. A perfect honeymoon stay would be Ashford Castle in Adare.
I spent a couple of nights in a castle in Germany, but do not recommend that to you. In the winter you will find it cold and damp. We all think it's exciting; however I found the concept exciting, but not the experience.
Wait for some comments on a specific castle in Ireland before you reserve a room.
The Detroit Free Press just had an article in their travel section this past Sunday (8/24/08) about staying in Irish Castles. Lots of tips and prices listed. You can see it online during this week, at freep.com. Click on Travel.
