Stay out all night, or what? for a mega early flight out of Dublin

So I'm thinking of booking a quick trip to Dublin for a sort of 3-day weekend. I think this is a place I need to see. But I say "sort-of 3 day weekend" because the flight home on Sunday morning leaves at 6am! So if I try to get to the airport 2 hours early, that's 4am. Then, if I want to stay in a hostel, I'm having an alarm going off at some awful hour, which seems pretty rude to me!

So should I even book a hostel bed for that night? Is it a terrible idea as a solo traveler to just try and stay out til about 2 then maybe head on over to the airport?

And I guess this is a question for each individual reception desk, but in general, do they have a problem with you leaving a back-pack at the left luggage desk until 2am the next day? (I've never stayed at a hostel before so I'm just wondering what the general consensus on that might be.)

Also, I already figured out that the public bus won't be running at that time. But the Aircoach website says it has 24 hour service, and it goes hourly from midnight to 5am, so I shouldn't be worried about getting a ride to the airport, right? I don't see any mention of that being reduced on Sundays. Am I missing anything there about the basic feasibility of this plan?

Thanks!

You could try just staying at the airport. Look at www.sleepinginairports.com for information about the Dublin airport. If you do decide to just stay up all night, no harm done -- you can just sleep on the plane.

Thanks for the helpful links!

I am looking forward to this adventure very much!

The hostel I booked with today said they will only hold my bag until 9pm, which is the only snag so far. I think I can find a locker at the bus station though. I'm optimistic that this will work itself out :)

I also had an early morning flight. We had to take the shuttle bus from London to the outer airport (Stansted?) and then had to get to the airport early for check-in and all. What I did was book the hostel room for the night. I had all my stuff packed and ready to go and went to bed early that night, around 8. I then just set my alarm really early...slightly rude maybe, but a lot of people in the hostel use earplugs and there is plenty of other noise going on as well. Also I left around 1am I believe it was so some people weren't even back to the hostel yet, so early or late depending on how you look at it. I just made sure the alarm was super close to me and I shut it off very quickly. I didn't wake anyone else, or if I did they didn't act like I woke them up. I used the bathroom in the hall (instead of in the room) to freshen up and was off.

I would make sure you double-check where the shuttle bus will pick you up. I met up with my brother and we had to do a bit of running around as he didn't have the location correct.
