Stave Churches in September

I will be traveling to Norway the last couple of weeks in September. I want to see at least one stave church but am having trouble finding any open after August 31. If I find one that is open, I cannot find public transportation to view it. I will travel on a Scandinavia rail pass and combine train travel with bus transportation. I would appreciate responses from anyone who knows an open church with a bus that runs to the site after September 19 from anywhere near Bergen, Oslo, or the Sognefjord area. Thank you.

Have you thought about posting on TripAdvisor forum for public transportation information? They can be very good about helping with those aspects of travel. Lots of locals on those forums. Pam

There is a great stave church in Vik on the Sognefjord. If you goggle Hopperstad stave church, you can get to their website. It says they take group reservations so it might be worth your while to email them and see if they will open it for you. Check the Norled website--their express boat services Vik. We stayed in Balestrand; great location for exploring the Sognefjord.
